Abstract
The United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea entered into force on 16 November 1994. A subsequent Agreement relating to the implementation of Part XI of the Convention entered into force on 28 July 1996. The International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea is an independent judicial body established by the Convention to adjudicate disputes arising out of the interpretation and application of the Convention. The Tribunal is composed of 21 elected independent members. This site provides general information, proceedings and judgments, documents and publications, news, and question and answer sections in both English and French.
